On holiday with your dog in the Ledro Valley and Trentino
It was the year 2011. At the International Tourism Exchange in Milan, the municipality of Ledro was given the title “Comune Animal Friendly” (animal friendly municipality) by the Minister of Tourism herself.
An award that certified the efforts undertaken by the local administration and companies in order to improve the services dedicated to pets (especially dogs) and their human friends. More than ten years have gone by since then, but that effort has never ceased, actually, it has even grown and improved. Walks together with your dog at the lake and in the mountains
All around Lake Ledro, there are a real lot of routes to do together with your dog. Those of you who are looking for an easy itinerary might want to go for the walks leading to the Gorg D’Abiss waterfall or Madonnina del Besta. More challenging instead are the Strada del Ponale leading from Riva del Garda up to the Ledro Valley and the hiking trail to Monte Cocca, starting from Pieve di Ledro. As for the sportsmen (and sporty animals), there is Monte Corno, a loop road that takes about 4 -5 hours and has a total difference in altitude of 700 metres. Please remember however that dogs have to be kept on a leash in order to protect wildlife.
The ‘bau beach’ in Ledro and more beaches in Trentino
However, the main highlight among the services that the Ledro Valley offers for those travelling with their dog is undoubtedly the “bau beach” in the district of Pur. In the southern part of Lake Ledro, indeed, part of the beach has been separated and dedicated to the dogs and their human friends. This is a place to share and experience with respect for every living being. Anyway, the one in Ledro is not the only ‘bau beach’ in Trentino. We want to mention also the river beach in Arco, along the Sarca river, which can be found right behind the sports ground, and the one of Lago di Piazze, on the high plain of Piné, which is open to all dogs that are registered with the dog registry office and regularly vaccinated.
